I have to say this is the first time I’ve heard this theme.  Am I out of the loop on this one?  Well..I just think it’s adorably clever!  I love the idea of the elephant…and not just because I went to the zoo today and watched a baby elephant play in the water!  I think there is just so much to do with this theme and Ashley did a wonderful job of showcasing it’s potential!  Come on…could that cake be any cuter?

I have been very busy these last few weeks with back to back events, but I am back with the next week or so off! The baby shower brunch that I put together took place on Saturday and turned out adorable! The mother-to-be loves elephants so I took that into consideration while planning this event. It turned out so cute and all the little details worked so well together! Take a look at the pics…you can find the invite that I sent out for this event here.

Mocktail Mimosa’s and Hibiscus drinks made with Squirt soda (to go along with the theme), Orange Juice, & Cranberry Juice.

The Create-A-Crepe bar where guests could add ingredients, in a crepe, to make either a breakfast, lunch, or dessert crepe.

I titled the various sauces for the crepes “Squirtables” to carry out the theme of the shower.

Advice cards for the guests to fill out, along with an envelope for guests to print their address on for the mother-to-be to mail their thank you cards! I love the paperclips and the elephant pens toppers I put together!

But my favorite of all would have to be the guest favors! Such cute little elephant cupcake toppers! Adorable!

Overall it was a fabulous shower. And the mother-to-be loved every minute of it! Can’t wait to meet this little bundle of joy!

“I love your site and love throwing parties but I am completely stumped on a baby shower I am throwing for a good friend in September. Her hubby is a firefighter and she is doing the nursery accordingly. She loves everything about decorating w/firefighter theme, so I know she’d like a shower based around that theme. I, however, want it to be unpredictable, sophisticated rather than cutesy, and just really beautiful and amazing. haha…no big deal, right?? So I am looking for some great ideas for something along those lines, maybe just some firefighter touches, but not the whole thing? I’m going to kick things off by saying that I think using a vintage firefighter motif would make it more sophisticated. And since it’s for a baby shower, the idea of bringing in some vintage toys could be fun as well. Like this vintage firefighter toy truck…

The “mommy to be” designed just the cutest nursey, so the inspiration for the colors came from baby Amelia’s nursery! I love using nursey colors as the inspiration, it makes it feel all that more special. Cupcake-Tini’s were the signature cocktail and DIY Bake Your Own cupcakes were used as party favors. The mommy to be was baking her own little cupcake, so now the party guests could as well.

Fresh lemons were used in the floral arrangements to add that pop of yellow also used in the babies room. You can find the floral tutorial here!

Tracie decided to let everyone know the sex of her baby when I sent out the baby shower invitations, so we decided on a little birdie theme so we could use some fun wording on the announcement:

Enjoy this Giraffe themed baby shower…..

We created answer sheets for the baby shower games that incorporated the antique pram image and great antique fonts. The ladies had a ton of fun with these games. They played “who’s that baby?” and the mommy-to-be snuck in a baby picture of dad that had everyone giggling. The hostess also had everyone write a short story for mom-to-be using a list of words, some baby themed and some random, like rattle and tow truck. We heard this one got a ton of laughs.

The favors were a candle tied in cellophane bags with an adorable poem written by the shower hostess! She is so creative!

Here’s a candle to light when you hear us say,

…Sweet “Baby Dolan” is NOW on the way!

Let it serve as a token of thanks in anticipation,

As we join in together with hopeful celebration!

Please keep it as remembrance to PRAY,

For a safe delivery this coming May!

And along with baby we’ll give deepest appreciation

For helping us out of such a “tight” situation!

The shower was “Anticipating Baby” so the candle tins said “Anticipating Baby” with her due date.  We just adore the antique pram and it was wonderful inspiration.

We had a wonderful time working with these ladies and they did an amazing job bringing our designs to life!

Today I’m going to share a baby shower I designed to introduce a new baby boy.  Best described as a Sip and See (or “Sea” in this case) this gives everyone a chance to meet the new baby and is a great way to celebrate a second or third child. 

The nautical theme and colors were chosen to reflect the nursery.  I used clear glass plates and cut out oceanic maps from scrapbook paper, to place underneath.   The centerpiece highlighted a ships wheel, and sailor’s compass, along with small flower arrangements with bath-toy fish inserted into them.   A different nautical flag was inserted into each water glass, and the favors were a fun take on the “message in a bottle” idea.  The ‘napkins’ were rolled dish towels. On the drinks table we served an “Ocean Breeze” cocktail and blue Jones sodas.  I used a ‘fish’ craft punch to make confetti to sprinkle on some of the serving trays, and made drink charms from nautical themed buttons.  More maps were used to create a collage display board with pictures of the new baby and family. 

 The dessert table provided monogramed cookies, berry parfaits served in baby food jars, and mini cupcakes with more nautical flags. 

More details included custom invitations, a welcome life saver on the front door, an ‘islander cheeseball’ served in a boat, and more bath toys and plush toys as part of the decor.

Hey there! Eleanor from Pink Peppermint Paper here. Many thanks to Shannon for inviting me to do a guest post! I’ve done quite a few childrens’ parties recently, so I thought I’d share something a bit different. Hope you enjoy this coed baby shower some friends and I recently threw!

Our friends are expecting a little girl, so I was on the hunt for something feminine but not so much so that the guys would feel squirmy. I decided that using mod printed papers and due date-themed elements would be a nice middle ground. If my math is right, the mom- and dad-to-be will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this summer, and since this is their first baby I thought “All in Due Time” was a theme that worked well.

Here’s the shower invitation!

I found a great grouping of coordinating scrapbook papers. I liked them because of their use of pink and green and the concentric circles–both themes in the baby’s nursery bedding. Plus, there was a number element that worked well with the due date theme. They mailed in a strawberry colored envelope lined with numbers.

When guests arrived, they were greeted with this paper loop wreath also made from patterned papers.

In the foyer was the perfect place to sort of introduce our theme with some due date numbers. I painted them and distressed them a bit. I then hot glued them to some inexpensive craft boxes, which were covered with more decorative paper.

I also found this small craft figure, which I made preggars with half an Easter egg cut the long way. I dressed her in cut paper to match the numbers.

And here’s the full affect for the entry way complete with those beautiful pink flowering branches. I love Spring!

I love that Jessica took the time to think outside of the box and come up with a theme that was unique. Vintage Classic Toys…what a great idea. And how fun for all those guests to see those toys. I’m sure there were major flashbacks going on! Thanks for listing your baby shower Jessica.

this past weekend my friend, rachelle, and i threw a baby shower for our friend, debran.  she did all the food..i did all of the decor.  worked out perfectly.  i wanted to do a theme that i haven’t seen..or isn’t super popular right now.  then i started thinking about vintage/classic toys.  i loved the idea..especially since there were so many different ways you could go with it.  i have been planning for months now, during which i found out i am pregnant and am having a boy too!  i have been so inspired by the theme that i actually think i am going to do the baby’s nursery in it!  i have a vision, and i am really excited about it.  ok, back to the shower..haha.  congratulations debran!  i loved planning this for you!

we are both on our third baby and have been pregnant every single time together (we didn’t know each other yet with the first one) but our girls are a couple weeks apart, our boys are also about 6 weeks apart, and then again our boys will be a couple months apart.  how funny, huh?  how often does that happen?  debran is also entertaining the idea of a vintage toy nursery now too!  it’s definitely a fun and happy theme!  i can’t wait to bounce ideas off of each other!
